Infosys to hire more freshers, targets $150 million in cost savings

Analysts said the cost optimisation plan was a routine move aimed at reducing wage costs by hiring more freshers. The company’s margins have dropped significantly under CEO Salil Parekh, as it boosted investments to drive growth. The company is, however, now looking at greater cost savings, since a major chunk of its investments has been completed.

Snooping boosts government's WhatsApp traceability case

Following the incident, the government’s concerns have only increased, the official said on condition of anonymity. It means anyone can now hack into a device, take control of it and use it to spread malicious rumours that are detrimental to national security or those that lead to incidents of lynching, the official said.

WhatsApp users can now decide who can add them to groups

To enable the new update, WhatsApp users have to go to settings in their app, then tap account, followed by privacy and groups and then select one of three options: ‘everyone’, ‘my contacts’ or ‘my contacts except’. ‘My contacts’ means only the contacts that a user has in his address book can add him to groups.

Vivo mulls exports from Indian units

With the new manufacturing facility at WTC Tech Zone in Greater Noida, the BBK Electronic-owned company now provides employment in manufacturing to 10,000 people. It plans to provide 5,000 new jobs under the phase two of its manufacturing expansion, which will start soon.

Oppo, Vivo sales jump 67% in FY19

On a standalone basis, Oppo’s sales went up by 80% at Rs 21,524.6 crore, while Vivo grew by 54% at Rs 17,201.79 crore in 2018-19. BBK Electronics also owns OnePlus and Realme smartphone brands whose India sales for FY19 are still not available. BBK Electronics is still not making money in India with both Oppo and Vivo yet to breakeven.

Infosys hires PwC to probe plaints

PwC’s investigation would cover the contracts that Infosys entered into with some of its clients and the way it recognised revenue, they said. It has been asked to submit the report within two months.
