Wipro to establish Cyber Defence Centre in Melbourne

The new centre in South Melbourne will offer protection from cyber-attacks to the organisations and will generate 100 new tech jobs for locals. According to Wipro Senior Vice President Raja Ukil, "The launch of the centre in Melbourne showcases Wipro's commitment to leverage local talent and specialised expertise to cater to the cyber security needs of the region."

LinkedIn’s India user base up 24% in a year to 62 million

India has cemented its position as the second largest market for LinkedIn, the Microsoft-owned professional-networking firm, with a 24% jump in its Indian user base in the past one year, taking the total to over 62 million users, second only to US.

Current patent laws are inadequate for Artificial Intelligence-related Intellectual Property: Report

“Current patent laws treat Artificial Intelligence software inventions as logical algorithms implemented on the computer. While patent eligibility of algorithms is valid, there is little about how to deal with inventions that are heuristic in nature,” the report found.

TCS study says German companies have hiked spend on digital transformation

According to the report, almost every second company uses ‘change management’ methods to adapt to new structures and prepare the workforce, versus 36 percent in 2017. Among large companies with 500 or more employees, 57 percent rely on change management methods.

Government may spare Google from its phishing probe

The government is nevertheless planning to issue a notice to Google asking why it had not informed the authorities about the attack. It will also seek details of the cyber attack and its impact on Indian users. Phishing is defined as a fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information such as user names, passwords by masquerading as a trustworthy entity.

Political parties plan to up TikTok presence

TikTok has 200 million users in India. Following a temporary ban by the Madras High Court earlier this year, and a week after it became available again on app stores in India, TikTok had stated in May that it had reclaimed the top spot among free apps on the iOS platform and in the social category on the Google Play Store on Android.
