Many black-hat hackers aren’t happy with those spreading malware capitalising on the coronavirus pandemic. In a Russian-speaking underground forum, a hacker revealed that while the person initially had plans to use the pandemic to make money, that idea was dropped.
The Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In), the federal agency to combat cyber attacks to guard the Indian cyber space, has issued a fresh advisory with over a dozen suggestions to keep personal mobile phones healthy and secure.
From "GoCoronaGo" to "Sampark-o-Meter", the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and four Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have developed several mobile applications to aid the fight against coronavirus in the country.
Once the guidelines are in place, companies will have to ensure that if unlawful content is going viral on their platforms, others should also take steps to remove it, the official added.
It has also asked the government to introduce a furlough scheme, like in the UK, where for the period of lockdown, employees can remain with the company, but not take a salary.
The IT services providers are helping governments as well as drug developers identify new molecules to combat the pandemic, create simulations on how the virus spreads and build digital tools for clinical trials.
