Top-level government panel to probe data practices of Chinese apps

The committee, which is likely to meet on Wednesday, will conduct a detailed inquiry into the data-sharing practices of these apps, including top social media platforms TikTok, Helo and WeChat. Executives from apps such as TikTok, Bigo Live and Likee said they will cooperate with the government in the investigations and that they had begun the process.

China says India's ban on Chinese apps may violate WTO rules

"India's measure selectively and discriminatorily aims at certain Chinese apps on ambiguous and far-fetched grounds, runs against fair and transparent procedure requirements, abuses national security exceptions and (is suspected of) violating WTO rules," Ji Rong, spokesman at the Chinese embassy in New Delhi, said in a statement.

ISPs call for ban on websites of China-backed companies

"We support the government's action of blocking 59 Chinese apps and they should be more aggressive and go beyond these 59 apps.
